Work on the Portsmouth sea defences meant a change of course this year with lots of WADAC gents and a few WADAC ladies doing a double loop of Lakeside North Harbour.

Due to the location change the Victory 5 mile course this year bore an uncanny resemblance to that of the D-Day 10k race of previous years. So not the most scenic or inspiring route, looping round the car park at Lakeside North Harbour, but it was at least flat and traffic-free. Sunday 3rd December was thankfully a little warmer than recent days so our sixteen gents and seven ladies had nothing to warrant upset aside from some very light pre-race drizzle.

Kathy Bailey gave another great performance in her second league race this season, finishing as first Female Vet 45 in 29m41s. She was joined in our A-team by Annie Dixey and Jo Curtis. Annie's young legs were clearly not too tired from having done the Gosport Half and the Hayling 10 on the previous two weekends as she ran an impressive PB, and Jo finished as the third in the F60 vets category.
Jackie Ducker, Marie Kille and Shirley Dyson-Laurie (third F65) made up our ladies' B-team but unfortunately Sarah Aldridge didn't have anyone to join her to compose a C-team.

Chris Powner certainly made the most of his annual single-race outing for the HRRL, finishing third overall and first of all the league runners with an amazing time of 25m13s. With yet another hugely impressive PB James Moore just pipped Simon Stevens at the post, though Simon did finish as the second M45 vet, and Matt Grote completed our A-team. This quality quartet resulted in our gents being the second placed team overall - well done chaps!
Lloyd Dickson (PB), Bruce Ayling, Patrick Warburton (PB) and George Belfield (PB) made up our gents' B-team and our C-team was comprised of Robert Bryan, Steve Oliver, Saul Duck and Leon Jones. Jonathan Kane also picked up the prize for the first M75 vet.

So we reach the end of 2017, though not yet half-way through this season's races.
In the league tables our ladies' A-team are in second place behind Hedge End in the A-Div and our B and C teams sit in third and eighth places respectively in the B-Div. It's quite rare for the WADAC ladies not to be hugging the top spots in both divisions so we really need you all to sign up for the 2018 races ASAP if our previous successes are to be repeated come the end of this season.
Our gents' A-team are currently doing well to sit third in their A-Div table and our B and C teams are fourth and twelfth in the B-Div.

Many thanks to all that took part and particularly well done to everyone that ran a PB or won a prize.
Have a rest but don't over-indulge too much over Christmas because Stubbington 10k is only on Sunday 14th January!
