Juniors are boys and girls from school year 4 to school year 11. Below is an overview of the activities and training groups that are available to junior members of WADAC.
School years 4 & 5 - The U11s Academy
The U11s Academy aims to introduce the children to running, jumping and throwing. The groups take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
There are two outdoor groups throughout the year: one taking place at 5.30 to 6.45pm on Tuesday and the other taking place at the same time on a Wednesday. These groups train at the track.
Separately to the outdoor groups, there is another U11s Academy group which trains both indoors during the autumn and winter and outdoors during spring and summer. The group trains on Tuesdays at Kings School at 6.30 to 8pm.
School years 6 and 7 - U13 Academy or Development Group
These are multi event groups focusing on all athletics events.
The U13 Academy train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30pm to 7pm and the Development Group trains on Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8pm. Both are at the track.

School years 5 - 11 - Cross-Country & Distance-Running
Junior athletes who are interested in long- and middle-distance running and are committed to competing in cross country competitions during the winter, can attend specialised distance-running training groups. These take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
School years 6 - 11 - Track & Field
Junior athletes can compete in most of the standard athletics events in a number of different leagues and competitions in both the winter and summer. There are various training groups on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, some offering training across several disciplines and others focused on single events or activities, e.g. sprints only or throws only or jumps only.

They are fully qualified coaches, having completed the necessary courses provided by England Athletics. The sessions are also supported by parent volunteers, who make a vital contribution in ensuring that we can take a large pool of athletes. Read more about our coaches.
We want athletes to enjoy their training and to try their best at all times. We expect them to treat their coaches and each other with courtesy and respect. We seek to encourage good training habits and high standards of behaviour. We are a competitive club and expect members to compete in at least 5 meetings each year.
