Junior athletes, who are interested in long distance running and are committed to competing in cross country competitions during the winter, can attend specialised distance-running sessions.
The distance-running groups focus on developing a good running form and building up an athlete’s endurance level. The groups will prepare the athletes for cross country and road relay competitions as well as helping them to run faster parkruns and summer middle distance events.
At WADAC, we are fortunate to have some extremely well qualified and experienced distance-running coaches, who will greatly improve the athletes' ability in this area.
Training sessions take place at the athletics stadium on Bar End Road in Winchester. Please park at Barfield Close Park and Ride, which is free in the evenings.
School year 5 to 10 athletes can attend sessions either on Tuesdays or Thursdays, or both, according to the athlete's preference. The sessions start at 5.30pm and finish at 6.30pm and are on grass during winter months and on grass and track during summer months.
Once athletes in school year 9 and above have attained an appropriate level of speed and endurance, there are also longer sessions on Tuesdays from 6.30pm.
For questions about the distance-running group sessions or if you would like to trial and / or join, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
