Attending the Mansfield event for the first time in over five years, WADAC's U13 and U15 teams secured top 25 finishes in competition with the best teams from around the country.

On an undulating course of parkland and woodland, the U13 boys were first off for WADAC, with both A & B teams working their way through the field impressively. The A team of Thomas Briggs, Michael Shingleton-Smith and Harry Harvey finished 22nd - their combined time of 22m 42.55s 'only' 1m12s behind the winning team, such are the fine margins and competitive nature of the event. The B team of Matt Duckering, Charlie Cox and Ben Chesterfield ran into 47th place, their time of 23m 41.95s again less than a minute behind the A team.

The U13 girls were next up, and here too both teams performed well, with the A team of Rose Chesterfield, Millie Burgess and Ellie McErlean 24th in 24m 49.65s, despite some lost time in the crowded handover area. The B team of Amelia Moore, Clemmie Rydon and Lara Bassett were just 32 seconds further back, in 41st place overall.

For the U15 boys, Doug Scally, James Medley and Dominic Exworthy, all in the lower-half of the age group, performed creditably against many older runners, and finished comfortably in the top-half of the field, 45th place in 21m 47.55s.

Finally, the U15 girls, Sasha Tydeman, Lily Neate and Hannah Foster, secured the club's first top-20 finish of the day with Hannah just holding off an opponent on last leg to finish 20th in 23m 57.70s.

Coaches Nick Anderson and Mike Chambers were pleased with the results and will now be looking for further improvement next year as the juniors build on this year's experience. Many of our current U11s will be eligible to run in the event next year, so competition for places will be strong.

Well done to all our runners and thanks to parents and coaches for their support yesterday.
