Following the superb season enjoyed by Winchester's junior teams at county, regional and national level, the top individual performers were presented with their trophies last week.
WADAC's coaches and team managers faced some difficult choices when selecting the winners of the 2018-19 junior cross-country awards. There were many contenders in what has been a season of unprecedented achievement by the Winchester teams. In the end however, decisions had to be made, and these deserving winners were announced last week :
Under 11 Girls - Poppy Taylor, following another season where she was first home for WADAC on nearly every occasion and only once finished outside the top 10.
Under 11 Boys - Will Hasan, for two race wins out of two at Hampshire League and silver medals at the annual County Championships.
Under 13 Girls - Emma Shedden, again WADAC's leading finisher in almost every race and a regular in the top 20.
Under 13 Boys - James Lewis, for a spectacular season which included a clean sweep of all Hampshire League races and leading the trio who won the club's first ever national-level junior team medals.
Under 15 Girls - Rose Chesterfield, who was a multiple medal winner during the season (Hampshire League & Championships) and also ran superbly at both National Relays and National Championships.
Under 15 Boys - Sam Roberts, for a breakthrough season which included 4th in the County Championships and top 50 at the National Championships as well as team gold and silver medals at county level.
Under 17 Girls - Isabella Beck, for medal-winning performances at Hampshire League, despite losing several weeks of the season to illness.
The picture shows James, Emma, Will, Issy & Poppy with their awards. Rose and Sam weren't quick enough to get into the picture, so we'll try again shortly.
